Why does blur read as memory?

"In the commercial world this photograph would never pass. Out of focus, shutter too slow — almost nothing left sharp anywhere in the frame. And yet, somehow it feels more true than a sharp version would.

I still don't fully understand why blur reads as memory, and clarity reads as fact. But it does, doesn't it?"

這張照片，在 commercial 的世界裡是絕對不合格的——沒有對焦，快門不夠快，幾乎沒有留下任何清晰之處。但不知為何，它反而比清晰的版本更顯真實。

我至今仍不太明白，為什麼模糊會被讀成記憶，而清晰會被讀成事實——但它確實如此，不是嗎?

Maybe because memory works the same way. We don't remember in sharp focus — we keep the light, the warmth, the feeling, and let the edges go. A sharp photograph shows what was there; a blurred one shows what it felt like to be there. Since beginning my MA in Photography, my work has turned toward fine art — away from making things legible, toward making them felt.

也許，是因為記憶本來就是這樣運作的。我們從來不會記得清晰的細節——我們留下的是光、是溫度、是那種感覺，然後任由邊緣模糊散去。一張清晰的照片告訴你「當時有什麼」；模糊的照片告訴你「當時是什麼感覺」。自從開始讀 MA Photography，我的創作逐漸走向 fine art——不再追求清楚明瞭，而是希望讓它們「被感受」。

John Berger wrote that the act of framing is already the photographer's way of seeing — it can be imitated, but never surpassed. To me, art has no hierarchy. This image is part of Slowly Time — a series on time, memory, and the quiet beauty of ordinary things. I've always felt half a step behind; my time zone isn't everyone else's. But something in me believes I'll arrive. Time... please, walk a little slower.

John Berger 曾說，取景與構圖本身，就已經是攝影師的一種觀看方式——因此攝影可以被模仿，卻無法被超越。對我而言，藝術沒有高低之分。這張照片是 Slowly Time 的一部分，一個關於時間、記憶，以及平凡事物中那份靜謐之美的系列。我總覺得自己慢人一等，我的時區和別人的不一樣……但我心裡始終相信，自己終會來到。

Everything has its own way of being beautiful — it's not waiting to be created, only to be seen.
